The conference was made up of training, professional and interactive sessions. The training was led by delegates from SizweNtsalubaGobodo (South Africa). Cynthia Mbili updated members on IFRS 15 and Yvonne Kgoedi reviewed the New Audit Report. Cynthia’s “Partnering For Results” presentation led delegates into a lively discussion on how to develop the region.
Updates were given from MI’s CEO, Liza Robbins, and MI InterAct’s Marketing Director, Jackie Tang.
The conference welcomed a number of external speakers: John Steytler, Special Advisor to the President of Namibia, who provided an inspirational session on how Namibia is addressing its challenges. Mike Gora from ACCA Global presented services and resources of potential interest to members irms. Ian Thomas, a lion tracker, led an excellent, energetic and humorous session on how we can learn the meaning of real teamwork from prides of lions.
The conference concluded with a lively discussion on how MIA members can leverage MI membership and work together to drive MIA forward. Watch out for developments and Africa’s rising!
The social programme included traditional Namibian dinners, dining and socialising with Grand Namibia’s clients and colleagues. The last day was dedicated to informal networking, where guests enjoyed a walking carnivore tour, getting up close with some of the country’s beautiful wildlife, at the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary.
