The Central Council comprises of 32 elected members of which 7 are from the northern region. The election saw 21 candidates contesting for the 7 available seats.
The ICAI is a statutory body, established 64 years ago, for the regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountants in India. The ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body, not only in the country but also globally. It has contributed in many fields including education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards. ICAI is the second largest accounting body in the world.
